Anyone who does not update the situation will be unable to vote in the 2026 Elections, in October.

Citizens across the country have until this Wednesday (6) to obtain the first title or regularize the document at the Electoral Court.

Anyone who does not update the situation will be unable to vote in the 2026 elections, in October.

The measure can be done in person at electoral offices or online, through the self-service system, for those who already have biometrics registered.

Without a voter registration card, it may be difficult to obtain a passport or identity card, take up public office or enroll in public educational institutions.

The deadline applies to the following services:
-voter registration (issuance of the first title);
-transfer of electoral domicile;
-review of registration data;
-regularization of other pending issues.

Legislation

According to art. 91 of Law No. 9,504/1997 (Elections Law), no registration or electoral transfer requirements can be received within 150 days prior to the election date.

For this reason, from May 7th, voter registration will be closed in all Electoral Court units and online services, remaining this way until November 2026.

You should pay attention to the regularization deadline:

  • young people who are going to vote for the first time;
  • people who have changed cities and need to transfer the title;
  • who had their title canceled or has pending issues with the Electoral Court;
  • those who need to update registration data.

At the end of the trial session this Tuesday (5), the president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), minister Cármen Lúcia, warned of the end of the deadline.

“We hope that everyone who has not yet resolved an issue will have this as a goal to be achieved, considering the importance of elections for Brazilian democracy,” he stated.
