Currently, Ciro Gomes is rehearsing a rapprochement with the Liberal Party (PL), Bolsonaro’s acronym
Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro once again criticized former Ceará governor Ciro Gomes (PSDB) on Monday night, 4. On her Instagram profile, she reposted a video of a 2019 interview in which Ciro calls her husband, Jair Bolsonaro (PL) “almost sick” and “stupid”, with a “short” intellectual capacity. Still according to Ciro, Bolsonaro would be a “donkey” and would be “horror to literate people”.
“For us to understand Bolsonaro, we have to understand the psychology of an almost ill man” says Ciro, in an interview with the YouTube channel MyNews, in 2019. “Why does Bolsonaro have this anti-intellectual hatred? It’s because he’s short, his reasoning ability is abstract. He’s almost a donkey, almost a donkey. A really stupid guy”, he adds.
Currently, Ciro Gomes is trying to get closer to the Liberal Party (PL), Bolsonaro’s acronym. The movement has been the target of criticism from Michelle since December last year, when the former first lady was running for state government and leading in the polls.
Michelle’s speech angered Jair Bolsonaro’s three children and started a split in the family. Carlos, Flávio and Eduardo defended Ciro and stated that the agreement with the Ceará native was made with their father’s knowledge.
At the time, the former first lady published a note saying she respected her stepchildren’s opinion, but highlighted that he thinks differently and has the right to express his thoughts “freely and sincerely”. “I ask my stepchildren to understand and forgive me. It was not my intention to upset them,” he said.
This Monday, when retrieving the video of Ciro’s interview, Michelle wrote in the publication’s caption: “And there are still people on the ‘right’ supporting this individual.”
Former Minister of National Integration during Lula’s first term, Ciro Gomes became a critic of the president and the Workers’ Party (PT), acting in opposition to the current governor of Ceará, Elmano de Freitas, his main opponent in this year’s elections.
At the beginning of April, the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, stated that the Northeast would be a “disaster” for the party and that the party must close agreements to increase the chances of winning the vote of the states in the region, such as an alliance with Ciro for the election for the government of Ceará.
