Carlos Bolsonaro (PL) apologized to state deputy Ana Campagnolo (PL-SC) during a party meeting on Monday night, 4. The Santa Catarina PL faces a split after the announcement that the son of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) would be a pre-candidate for one of the Senate vacancies for Santa Catarina. On his social networks, Carlos confirmed that he apologized to the deputy and stated that there are other priorities at the moment.
“We have things much more important than us. We have a Brazil to rescue for our children! Move forward!”, he wrote.
The split between party colleagues began with the formation of the Senate ticket for Santa Catarina, at the end of last year. As Carlos is not from the State, the decision to pre-candidate displeased local leaders, especially Campagnolo. The deputy said that the seat of federal deputy Caroline de Toni (PL-SC) in the Senate race would have been “given” to Carlos Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).

Governor Jorginho Mello, who will seek re-election, wanted senator Esperidião Amin (PP-SC) on his ticket. The second vacancy was sought by De Toni, but she faced resistance, as Bolsonaro wanted Carlos to run for the Senate for Santa Catarina.
The impasse led Caroline de Toni to articulate a possible change of party. As shown by Estadão Columnshe reported having received invitations from Novo and other parties, such as União Brasil, Republicans, MDB and the MBL party, Missão.
Ana Campagnolo declared that there would be “two vacancies that the party divided between PL and PP. The PP will maintain Amin’s candidacy as it always was. Our PL’s vacancy belonged to congresswoman Carol, now it will be given to Carlos”, she wrote, demonstrating dissatisfaction with the ticket.
Carlos Bolsonaro reacted by denying the state deputy. “Don’t be liars! Absolutely nothing that this girl is saying is true. How low it would be! Regrettable!”, he commented. He then clarified that “Jair Bolsonaro’s pre-candidates for the Federal Senate are Carol and Carlos Bolsonaro”. Thus, Esperidião Amin was left out of Jorginho’s ticket.
The two parliamentarians continued exchanging hints on social media. Campagnolo was even accused of publishing a “cropped” photo on her Instagram profile to “exclude” Carlos. She later denied it.
On Monday, Carlos and Campagnolo met in Santa Catarina at the invitation of governor Jorginho Mello (PL) to align themselves before Flávio Bolsonaro’s (PL-RJ) pre-presidential campaign in the State.
