There are developments in the field of nursing that are causing great concern for representatives of this professional group: A “structural de-professionalization” is underway, warned Elisabeth Potzmann, President of the Austrian Health and Nursing Association (ÖGKV), on Thursday in a press conference in the run-up to Nursing Day on May 12th. According to this, a growing number of low-skilled personnel are being used for more and more tasks, which means that they are exceeding their competences. This is particularly true in the area of long-term care.
