Albufeira promotes tourist destination at Expovacaciones, in Bilbao

Between May 8th and 10th, Albufeira will be present at Expovacaciones, one of the largest tourism fairs in northern Spain, which takes place at the Bilbao Exhibition Center.

The municipality participates with a counter integrated into the Algarve Tourism Region stand, in an initiative that aims to reinforce the promotion of the destination within the Spanish market.

The 2026 edition of the fair is expected to bring together hundreds of exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors, with the presence of tourist regions in Spain, Portugal and other international destinations. The event presents a diverse offer linked to tourism, leisure and travel.

Spanish market gains relevance for the Algarve

Albufeira’s participation comes at a time when the air connection between Bilbao and Faro airports has already been confirmed, with two weekly flights from mid-June, reinforcing the proximity between the Algarve and northern Spain.

According to the Municipality of Albufeira, presence at the fair aims to consolidate the municipality’s position in a market considered strategic and with potential for growth.

The president of , Rui Cristina, emphasizes that “it is essential to seek new markets as a way of affirming the competitiveness of our tourism offer”.

Strategy bets on international affirmation

The mayor also considers that “presence at Expovacaciones is part of our international affirmation strategy”, adding that “Albufeira is today recognized as a destination of excellence, and it is this image that we will continue to project”.

Participation is part of the promotional strategy developed by the Algarve Tourism Region, which takes several municipalities and tour operators in the region to Bilbao.

This will be the 46th edition of Expovacaciones, an event that in 2025 received more than 30 thousand visitors.

The organization hopes to once again affirm the fair as one of the main tourist showcases in the Iberian Peninsula, bringing together professionals in the sector and the general public.
