The president asked in February that American federal agencies begin identifying and publishing files related to UFOs and extraterrestrials due to the great interest they arouse.
O Pentagon announcedthis Friday (8), the publication of a series of secret documents about UFOsa topic that arouses the interest of many Americans, including President Donald Trump, who had asked for its declassification.
More than 160 documents, some dating back to the 1940s, were released on a Pentagon website. “These files, which have remained hidden, have fueled justified speculation for a long time, and the time has come for the American people to see for themselves,” declared the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth in a statement.
One of the files, from December 1947, contains a series of reports about “flying saucers”. An Air Force intelligence report from November 1948, classified as “top secret,” includes information about sightings of “unidentified aircraft” and “flying dishes.”

On that same day, the President of the United States criticized former president Barack Obama for allegedly disclosing “confidential information” about aliens.
Days earlier, Obama had commented on a podcast about the existence of life beyond Earth. “They are real, but I have not seen them and they are not stored at Area 51,” Obama said, referring to the top-secret US military installation in Nevada, about the which numerous conspiracy theories about UFOs have developed.
Faced with a barrage of reactions on social media, Obama explained his position and stated that, while he was president, he saw “no evidence” that “extraterrestrial beings have contacted us”.
O Interest in this topic has been revived in recent yearsa period in which the American government investigated reports of apparently supernatural aircraft, amid concerns that adversaries may be testing very advanced technologies.
In March 2024, the Pentagon published a report in which it stated have no proof that the “unidentified anomalous phenomena” were alien technology.
Many suspicious sightings reported at the time ended up being revealed only as weather balloons, spy planes, satellites and other normal activities.
