Federal deputy Adriana Ventura (Novo-SP) submitted a request for information requesting clarification on the results of the first edition of the , launched in 2023, and details about the new version of the program, recently launched.
The parliamentarian requested information such as the number of beneficiaries served, renegotiated financial volume, number of operations carried out and the socioeconomic profile of the beneficiaries.
The deputy also requested that the department inform what the program’s initial goals were, whether they were achieved and whether there was an official assessment of the measure’s impact on reducing defaults in the country.
“Desenrola didn’t work once, why would it work now? It’s another populist, electoral and convoluted measure from this government. It uses money from the workers themselves to try to save deadbeats. And in the end, it doesn’t save the deadbeats and hurts everyone”, stated the deputy.
The company would have renegotiated R$53.2 billion in debt, but, after its closure, the default stock grew again. The request also mentions data from the Central Bank according to which, for every R$1 renegotiated, R$1.15 would have arisen in new default.
The deputy also questions the use of up to R$23.2 billion from funds such as FGTS and FGO to make Desenrola Brasil 2.0 viable.
The second version of the program was launched by the Lula government due to concerns about high debt levels.
