Veliko Tarnovo – Uruguayan Guillermo Silva sensationally won the second stage of the Giro d’Italia in Bulgaria on Saturday and took over the pink jersey. After a turbulent event, the 24-year-old Astana professional won the sprint of a larger group that also included top favorites Jonas Vingegaard and Felix Gall. Vingegaard and Italy’s great hope Giulio Pellizzari were only caught shortly before the finish after an attack on the last long climb.
