Iran’s Revolutionary Guards threatened on Saturday to attack US targets in the Middle East and “enemy ships” if Iranian tankers were targeted. With reference to the Iranian media, AFP reported about it, writes TASR.
“Any attack on Iranian tankers or commercial vessels will lead to a heavy attack on one of the US centers in the region and on enemy ships,” the guards said a day after the US attacks on two Iranian tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
The al-Jazeera station, citing the Iranian IRIB agency, reported on the statement of the commander of the Revolutionary Guards, who claims that the Guards’ missile systems and drones “they are aimed at American targets in the region and at enemy ships of the aggressor” and are waiting for the order to fire.
On Friday, an American fighter jet fired at two Iranian-flagged tankers and put them out of service. The USA accused them of violating the American blockade of Iranian ports. An Iranian military official told Iranian media that the navy of the Islamic Republic responded with strikes.
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he expects Iran’s response to Washington’s latest proposal to a peace deal “supposedly tonight”. According to AFP, however, there have so far been no public indications that Tehran has responded to the proposal.
