The incidents in the basketball game between Ovarense and Oliveirense, marked by aggressions and 11 expulsions, will be reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Authority for the Prevention and Combat of Violence in Sports announced this Monday.
Em the authority says that “facts capable of being classified as criminal offenses of a public nature” are at stake, following the clashes that occurred in the meeting between Ovarense and Oliveirense, played at the Arena de Ovar.
The end of the third period of the first game of the quarter-finals of the Senior Men’s Basketball League play-off was marked by an episode of violence between players from both teams.
The confusion spread to the stands and forced the match to be interrupted for around 40 minutes, while the referee team analyzed the images of the match to apply disciplinary measures.

A Authority for Preventing and Combating Violence in Sport announced that it will send to the Public Prosecutor’s Office “all compiled information that appears useful for the pursuit of Justice”, highlighting that it is the judicial authorities’ responsibility to investigate the facts criminally.
