Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico held talks with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen on Monday. He received it at the government office. “Austria is an important export partner for Slovakia, and it is also the third largest foreign investor here. Austrian investments in Slovakia have exceeded 7.5 billion euros and Austrian companies provide more than 48,000 jobs here,” the government office pointed out.

Strengthening cooperation

The Slovak prime minister and the Austrian head of state agreed that the countries should focus on projects that bring tangible results for citizens and entrepreneurs in the field of cross-border transport infrastructure, energy security or the competitiveness of the automotive industry in particular.

“Robert Fico and Alexander Van der Bellen also spoke about the global competitiveness of the European Union, high energy prices and the related sustainability of industrial production, including energy-intensive industries,” the office explained.

Road to Moscow

As he added, the topic of the meeting was also the Prime Minister’s visit to the celebrations of the victory over fascism in Moscow and the content of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
