Donald Trump’s negative rating rose again in the United States and reached the worst level since the beginning of his second term. AtlasIntel research released this Tuesday (12) shows that 59.8% of Americans disapprove of the Republican president, while 39.5% approve of his administration.
The survey indicates a gradual deterioration in the president’s image since the first months after his inauguration. In March 2025, when the historical series began to be monitored by the institute, disapproval was at 52.4%.
The new round was carried out between May 4th and 7th with 2,069 respondents through online questionnaires. The margin of error is two percentage points, with a 95% confidence level.
The data shows that the main source of American dissatisfaction continues to be linked to the domestic economy. For 48.6% of those interviewed by AtlasIntel, inflation and cost of living today represent the biggest problem facing the country.
Economic perception appears fragmented in different areas of everyday life. Another 41.1% cited the economy and the job market as among the main national challenges.
The survey also reveals an increase in institutional concern among part of the electorate. Protecting democracy was cited by 38.3% of respondents as one of the biggest issues facing the United States today.

Even though it has been one of Trump’s main political themes since the campaign, immigration appears behind economic issues on the list of Americans’ priorities. The subject was mentioned by 33.6% of those interviewed.
In recent months, Trump has intensified immigration policies, expanded deportation operations and toughened rhetoric against cartels and illegal immigration. The government also placed homeland security at the center of the new national counterterrorism strategy released last week.
Despite this, the numbers suggest that the electorate remains more sensitive to the economic impact of the cost of living than to security and border issues.
