More than 1,700 people are confined on a cruise ship that arrived on Tuesday night in Bordeaux, southwest of France, after the death of a passenger and a suspected gastroenteritis epidemic, authorities announced this Wednesday.
Among the 1,233 passengers, a 90-year-old person died and around 50 showed symptoms.
According to health authorities, cited by the agency France-Presse (AFP), analyzes are underway to detect the possible presence of norovirus.
There are also 514 crew members on board.
The Ambassador Cruise Line ship, which departed the Shetland Islands (off the coast of Scotland) on May 6, stopped in Belfast (Northern Ireland), Liverpool (England) and Brest (western France) before arriving in Bordeaux, from where it was supposed to depart for Spain.
