PSD, Chega and PS have until Tuesday to present their candidates to the Constitutional Court. The date was set by the President of the Assembly after the resignation of the President of the Court, which increases the number of vacancies to be filled by Parliament to 4.
The resignation of the president of the Constitutional Court has been made official, they are four judges that Parliament needs to elect.
SIC had access to the order from the President of the Assembly of the Republic who asked the three largest parties to present candidates by Tuesday.
A election date it will only be scheduled the following day, at the Leaders Conference.
Chega asked for urgency on the issue, after having accused PSD and PS of making “behind the scenes moves”.
Each party must choose one judge each. The fourth must be proposed by the PSD, with the consensus of the other parties, as approval requires a two-thirds majority.
The three parties therefore have to return to dialogue.
André Ventura and Luís Montenegro already met this Wednesday. They will not have spoken about this topic, unlike the decree on loss of nationality failed precisely by this Court that needs new judges.
One of the two will have left the meeting meeting point on another Chega priority.
Chega has already opened a process, but the PSDB does not want to work on the issue now. It will only be available from the end of next year.
