“The only connection I have with this gentleman, Daniel Vorcaro, is this film”, said Flávio. According to the senator, he had no compensation to offer the businessman and the contribution was made exclusively in the context of a private investment in audiovisual production. “This generates exposure for investors,” he said.

Flávio reported that he was introduced to Vorcaro by businessman Thiago Miranda exclusively to deal with the financing of the film and said that, at the time, the banker was a well-connected figure in Brasília, frequenting Judiciary environments and prestigious circles, without there being any public information that would raise suspicions about his actions, in his view. According to the parliamentarian, it would be unreasonable to demand that he know facts that, according to his version, were not yet public knowledge.

According to the senator, Vorcaro was one of more than ten investors who contributed resources to the project, all through formal contracts with the expectation of financial return. Flávio said that, after the agreement was formalized, payments began to be made according to the scheduled schedule, until the installments were no longer paid, which led to charges.

“We talked to him, he agreed on the film, it was formalized. I thought everything was fine. The installments were being paid as established in this contract, and there comes a time when he starts to stop paying these installments. And I charged him”, he stated.

The senator refuted accusations that he had requested favors or carried out any type of extortion when seeking payment of the amounts, classifying these interpretations as “flippant”. He also denied personal proximity to Vorcaro and said that expressions such as “brother”, mentioned in revealed messages, are part of common slang in Rio de Janeiro, without indicating intimacy.

Flávio also defended the installation of a Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) to investigate the Banco Master case, stating that, “more than ever”, it is necessary to separate “the guilty from the innocent”. The senator also rejected attempts to associate him with what he classified as “spurious” contacts between members of the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and the banker.
