Tommy Johnson was 38 years old and weighed 290 kilos when he sought help from the weight loss reality show “Deadly Kilos”at a point where I could barely stand and needed to use a respirator due to obesity.
The only task he still performed alone was taking a shower, as constant pain in his knees and back prevented him from being able to do so. When consulting with the program’s doctor, Tommy explained the traumas that led to his serious eating disorder.
His childhood was marked by a violent family environment and the early loss of his alcoholic father, when he was just eight years old. At just 18 years old, he already weighed more than 200 kilos, which continued due to the physical abuse that left a profound mark on him.
Following the calorie deficit diet suggested by Dr. Now and with psychological support, Thommy gained 32 kilos in a few months, making him ready to undergo bariatric surgery.
A key figure in his weight loss was his girlfriend, Amanda, who had previously lost a partner to obesity. She stayed by his side and helped him to lose almost 100 kilos in less than a year.
After participating in the program, Tommy did not remain active on social media. On his Facebook profile, his last publication was in 2020 — a photo in which only his face appears, making it impossible to identify whether he continued the weight loss journey that began in “Deadly Kilos”.
