The session was attended by the Secretary of State for Fisheries and the Sea, Salvador Malheiro, the president of CCDR Algarve, José Apolinário, the vice-president of CCDR Alentejo, Helena Cavaco, and the manager of the MAR2030 program, Dina Ferreira.

The main objective of the meeting was to bring program management closer to the beneficiaries, promoting direct contact on implementation rules, technical monitoring and financing opportunities.

Session highlighted project execution and technical support

During the initiative, the Beneficiary Manual was presented, as well as various aspects related to the physical and financial execution of approved operations and registration procedures clarified.

The program also included the signing of Terms of Acceptance for recently approved operations and the presentation of the company Aqualvor as an example of success in the use of MAR2030 funds. According to the organization, the company has been modernizing its production systems, reinforcing animal welfare and reducing environmental impact, contributing to a more sustainable production of sea bream and sea bass.

In the session, José Apolinário highlighted the importance of institutional proximity in monitoring projects. “This is the home of agriculture and fisheries, but also of innovation. At a time when public discourse is often marked by polarity, it is important to reinforce the availability of institutions to support concrete and effective solutions, standing alongside the beneficiaries in overcoming difficulties and valuing the territory”, he stated.

Algarve has 24 million euros still to be executed

The Secretary of State for Fisheries and the Sea also highlighted the relevance of this type of initiative to reduce the distance between institutions and beneficiaries. “There is still a distance between European and national institutions and beneficiaries. Initiatives like this bring us closer and allow for a direct, more effective and solution-oriented dialogue”, said Salvador Malheiro.

The official also revealed that the MAR2030 program has already approved more than 4,200 operations across the country, with an overall execution rate close to 24% and around 130 million euros already mobilized for the beneficiaries.

In the Algarve, 44 million euros of investment have been approved, corresponding to around 32.5 million euros of public support. The regional execution rate is currently at 41%.

Salvador Malheiro warned, however, of the need to accelerate the implementation of projects in the region. “We still have around 24 million euros to execute in the region, so it is essential not to waste this opportunity”, he highlighted.
