Incident occurred on Friday at a hotel in SP; duo with press credentials say they were mistaken for PT activists
Two men were immobilized and removed by security guards on Friday (May 15, 2026) during the event to launch the pre-candidacy of federal deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP-SP) for the Senate. The riot occurred at the Hotel Royal Palm Plaza, in Campinas (SP).
The political event was attended by senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos-SP), and senators Sergio Moro (União-PR) and Rogério Marinho (PL-RN).
Those involved were identified as André Cardoso and Gabriel Sesonelli. Both wore identification bracelets intended for press professionals and claimed to manage a right-wing political channel on social media.
Images recorded at the scene show the moment in which the duo is restrained and dragged out of the establishment by private security agents at the event. Outside, the men were knocked to the ground, near the hotel’s entrance door.

According to reports published by the influencers on their profiles, the confusion began after they publicly criticized the political actions of Flávio Bolsonaro and Tarcísio de Freitas. They claim that, as a result of the questions and challenges made in the lobby, the security guards mistakenly associated them with PT (Workers’ Party) activists to justify their expulsion.
The event organization and Derrite’s security team have not officially commented on the episode so far.
