INSS starts 2-day effort with almost 26 thousand service vacancies

Reinforcement is carried out between this Saturday (May 16) and Sunday (May 17) in 18 states and DF

The INSS (National Social Security Institute) and the Ministry of Social Security started this Saturday (May 16, 2026) a two-day joint effort that offers almost 26 thousand service vacancies related to the granting of social security and assistance benefits.

This Saturday and Sunday (May 17, 2026) exactly 25,852 places will be offered to policyholders in 18 states and the Federal District. In these appointments, medical examinations and social assessments will be anticipated, steps that are part of the process of granting benefits. The Northeast Region receives 15,698 vacancies, followed by the Southeast (5,466), North (3,928) and Central-West (760).

The action is part of a set of measures by the agency to reduce the so-called “INSS queue”. For information on advance testing and scheduling joint efforts, policyholders can contact 135, which is open from Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 10pm, or access the Meu INSS service, on the website or mobile app.

At the end of April, the Minister of Social Security, Wolney Queiroz, reported that the country had 2.6 million applications in the queue. The number represents a 16% decrease compared to February, when there were 3.1 million.

ACCELERA INSS

To maintain the rate of decline in numbers in the INSS queue, the president of the institute, Ana Cristina Silveira, announced the Acelera INSS program, which implements operational measures to speed up service to insured people. The government’s ultimate objective is to normalize the waiting time for the insured to receive a response to requests within the constitutional deadline of 45 days.

See the actions of Acelera INSS:

  • joint efforts: forecast of four national actions until the end of June, focused on medical expertise and analysis of complex benefits;
  • staff reinforcement: immediate appointment of 300 social workers; request for an additional 300 servers (from the reserve register); announcement of a competition to hire another 2,000 employees;
  • technological review of workflows and improvements to systems that cross-reference government data to automate and speed up analysis.
