RJ: Body of police helicopter pilot will be laid to rest this Tuesday (19)

The body of helicopter pilot of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Monteiro Marques, will be laid to rest this Tuesday (19) in the city of Rio de Janeiro, after a funeral procession that will begin at 12:30 pm at the SAER (Aeropolice Service) base of the Civil Police, in Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.

The server(17), after being weakened for more than a year as a result of a complication caused by a gunshot to the head during a police operation in 2025.

The wake is scheduled to take place at 3pm at the Ecumenical Chapel of Penitence in Caju, where the Mass of the Present Body will take place at 4pm.

The cremation ceremony of the body will take place at around 5pm at the Penitência Crematorium.

The procession will travel according to the following itinerary: it will start on Avenida Afrânio de Melo Franco, passing through Orla de Ipanema, Orla de Copacabana, Aterro do Flamengo, Avenida Brasil and ending in the Caju port neighborhood.

Felipe’s body will be taken by CBMERJ (Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro), accompanied by vehicles from CORE (Special Resources Coordination).

Tribute to Felipe Marques

Felipe was piloting the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police aircraft that offered support to Operation Tourniquet when he was shot in the head in March 2025.

He was taken to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, in Leblon, South Zone of Rio, in a very serious condition.

He was hospitalized until December last year at Hospital São Lucas Copacabana, when to begin rehabilitation. However, in recent months, the pilot had health complications and needed to be hospitalized again.

Two days before he died, the commander’s family reported on his social media that Felipe had a complication with an infection in his body.
