Vienna – The local cycling community mourns the death of former racing cyclist Wolfgang Steinmayr. As Cycling Austria announced, the Tyrolean died on Tuesday morning at the age of 81 after a long illness. Steinmayr was one of the best amateur cyclists in the 1970s; he won the Tour of Austria an unprecedented four times (1972, 73, 75, 76) and secured the title of Glockner King in 1972 and 1975. Steinmayr also took part in the Olympic Games in 1972 and 1976.
