The mayor of Oeiras, Isaltino Morais, took to social media to criticize the lack of maintenance of Avenida Marginal by Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) and presented an unusual solution: using goats to clear the vegetation.
In a video published on social media, the mayor appears walking a goat on a leash in Lagoas Park and leaves a provocation for the IP. “This little goat is here in Lagoas Parque, but I’m supposed to take it to Marginal so she can eat the herbs that Infraestruturas de Portugal isn’t capable of cleaning,” he said.
Isaltino Morais referred to the animals as “biological brush cutters”, in a good-natured criticism of the supposed lack of intervention in cleaning the verges and spaces around Avenida Marginal.
