Polish Minister of the Interior Marcin Kierwiňski on Thursday evening in a video on the X social network announced that Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir was banned from entering Poland for five years. TASR informs about it according to the report of the PAP agency.
“Mistreatment of Polish citizens will always be met with a reaction. Regardless of who is perpetrating such behavior. At the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and (Foreign Minister) Radoslaw Sikorski … Itamar Ben Gvir is now formally banned from entering Poland.” wrote Kierwiňski on the X network.
The Israeli navy detained hundreds of activists from the pro-Palestinian initiative Global Sumud Flotilla on Monday. On Wednesday, Ben Gvir published a video in which he mocks the captured activists, who kneel with their heads bowed on the ground, their hands cuffed behind their backs and blindfolded. Sikorski previously said on the X social network that he ordered to summon the chargé d’affaires of Israel in Warsaw so that the Polish side would hand him a protest against the behavior of Israeli officials and she asked for an apology for the actions of a member of the Israeli government.
The spokesman of the department, Maciej Wewiór, then informed that Sikorski submitted a request to the Ministry of the Interior to ban Ben Gvir from entering Polish territory. Kierwiňski responded that decided to initiate the proceedings and has the same opinion as Sikorski.
