He stated that a “memorandum of understanding”, in the context of talks to end the war between Israel and Israel, “has already been largely negotiated”.

On the other hand, however, the Iranian news agency Tasnim, citing an Iranian source, reported earlier that: “if the US continues to raise obstacles, there will be no chance of reaching a final memorandum of agreement.” As reported by the medium, this source pointed out that disagreements remain over one or two clauses of the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.

The formal details of the agreement remain limited and it is possible that some parts of the memorandum will change. However, this is what we know so far about the possible deal that could lead to an end to the war.

What could the US-Iran deal include?

The agreement reportedly provides for a 60-day extension of the ceasefire. During this time, I will reopen the Straits of Hormuz, Iran will be able to export oil freely, and talks will be held to limit the country’s nuclear program, .

Tehran is also expected to agree to remove mines it has placed in the Straits and to not impose tolls on ships. In return, the US will lift the embargo on Iranian ports, which has been in effect since April 13.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday that the deal could lead to a “completely open” Strait of Hormuz, “with no tolls”, if reached. At the same time, Iranian media reported that the Straits would remain under Iranian control. The deal also reportedly provides for the “unfreezing” of certain Iranian assets held in banks outside Iran.

Furthermore, hostilities are expected to cease on all fronts, including those concerning Israel and Lebanon.

What probably won’t be included?

A senior Iranian source told Reuters on Sunday that in highly enriched uranium (HEU). According to the same source, the nuclear issue of Iran was not part of the preliminary agreement with the US.

However, on the other hand, the New York Times, citing two US officials, reported that Tehran had expressed an intention to hand over its stockpiles. Even if Iran agrees to hand over some of its HEU stockpile, it has not been clarified how such a process would be implemented in practice.

Little mention has also been made of Iran’s ballistic missile program, or of curbing support for its regional allies, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen.
