The objective is to vote for the BC’s PEC, not to push it with your belly, says Jaques Wagner

The leader of the government in the Senate, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), stated this Tuesday, 26, that he intends to vote on the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) 65, which deals with the financial autonomy of the Central Bank (BC), and “not push” the matter with his “belly”. The text has been on the agenda of the Senate’s Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) for months.

“The objective is to vote. It’s not pushing your belly. Let’s vote,” he said this Tuesday morning. “I believe that next week, there should be some suggestion to be presented to the rapporteur and the president of the CCJ”, he added, referring to Plínio Valério (PSDB-AM) and Otto Alencar (PSD-BA), respectively.

Wagner declined to give details about what will be presented and defended by the government. According to him, the terms are still being worked out.

“The government’s position is being constructed. We are talking to the Central Bank, the Treasury, the Ministry of Planning”, said the senator.
