Despite the positive signal, there is still no agreement between the parties
The PL leaders classified the meeting with senator Cleitinho Azevedo, from the Republicans, as positivebut with “nothing effective”, according to one of the sources heard by Jovem Pan. Cleitinho is one of the favorites to run for the government of Minas Gerais supported by the PL in the October elections.
Leaders, who participated in the meeting, reported progress in negotiations for Cleitinho to run for state executive and be a competitive platform for Flávio Bolsonaro, PL’s pre-candidate for president.
The acronym intends to accelerate discussions around the name for the Minas Gerais government and bring the hammer down in the coming daysbefore Flávio Bolsonaro’s next agenda in Belo Horizonte, scheduled to take place between June 1st and 2nd. But the PL also does not rule out launching its own candidacy. The name that appears most strongly is that of Flávio Roscoe, former president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (FIEMG).
Minas is the second largest electoral college in Brazil and is often decisive in presidential elections. Cleitinho appears to be leading the race for government, according to the latest electoral polls, which attracted the interest of the PL leadership.
Cleitinho Azevedo spoke with Flávio Bolsonaro’s campaign coordinator, Rogério Marinhothe president of the PL in Minas Gerais, federal deputy Domingos Sávio, and with other parliamentarians from the Minas Gerais bench this Wednesday (27).
