Progress in peace talks? Ukraine believes in an agreement with Russia before winter

The head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Kyrylo Budanov, declared on Monday that he considers reaching an agreement to end the war with Russia by winter as a “realistic” result. Reuters drew attention to it, TASR informs.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in a Sunday television interview that wants to continue negotiations on securing peace with Russia before winter begins, to take into account the improved strategic position of Kyiv.

Reuters recalls that the peace agreement negotiations, which were mediated by the United States, in recent months they are stuck in a stalemate due to the war in the Middle East.

Budanov said on Monday that expects the American delegation to visit both Moscow and Kyiv in the near future. However, he did not provide any details. “This is the President’s directive: to try to end this war as soon as possible…preferably before winter.” he told reporters at a press conference. “In my opinion, it is absolutely appropriate, well-timed and realistic,” he added.

Zelenskyj and others Ukrainian officials announced that the advance of Russian forces on the ground had slowed down, reminds Reuters. In the meantime, Kyiv has intensified its strikes on Russian territory, primarily aimed at the oil industry.
