Ukraine: Night of hell in Kyiv - At least 8 dead from Russian strikes

An extensive military operation using missiles and drones was launched against it in the early hours of the morning, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens of others, according to official announcements by local authorities. At the same time, strikes by Ukrainian drones also occurred on Russian territory, resulting in the death of a civilian and damage to energy infrastructure.

Multiple casualties in Kyiv and Dnipro

In the capital Kyiv, which was targeted by ballistic missiles, the death of three people was confirmed. The head of the city’s military administration, Timur Tkachenko, reported via Telegram that 29 people, including two children, were injured in the attacks in various districts. During the bombing, residents fled to underground shelters, while areas of the capital were set on fire and plumes of smoke rose.

In the eastern part of Ukraine, the city of Dnipro came under an equally heavy attack. The military governor of Dnipropetrovsk, Oleksandr Hanza, announced that five people were killed and 25 wounded, with the number showing an upward trend.

Raid on Kharkiv and Russian retaliation

In Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov announced that the city was hit by 15 drones and two missiles. Ten people, including a child, were injured in the raid.

Across the border, Russian authorities reported attacks by Ukrainian drones. In the Kursk region, regional governor Alexander Hinstein said via Telegram that a civilian had died during a raid. Additionally, in southern Russia’s Krasnadar region, local authorities confirmed a fire at the Ilsky refinery, which was attributed to a Ukrainian drone strike.

Alerts and Business Escalation

This development follows a warning issued by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last Friday, saying that Moscow’s forces were preparing for another massive strike. There had been a recommendation from the Russian side to foreign diplomats to move away from Kiev.

Recently, both the Russian and Ukrainian armed forces have stepped up their nighttime airstrikes using drones, with the Russian side expanding its operations during the day as well.
