For years, actress Nastassja Kinski asked for images to be removed from Wim Wenders’ work
German director Wim Wenders announced on Wednesday (June 3, 2026) that he will withdraw the film from distribution “False Movement”from 1975. The reason is the scene in which actress Nastassja Kinski appears topless, lying on a bed when a man lies down next to her.
At the time the work was produced, Nastassja was 13 years old. She has been asking for the scene to be removed from the film for years. In , Wenders said he recognized that the actress “should have been better protected”.
“I apologize to you, Nastassja, without reservations, without ‘buts’ or ‘however’”said the filmmaker.
According to the statement, the Wim Wenders Foundation, which holds the rights to the film, “is removing the work from all current forms of distribution and exhibition”. Streaming services, television broadcasters and distribution partners “will receive instructions to stop public access to the film”.
The foundation will talk to film institutions in Germany to find “appropriate ways of treating controversial cinematographic works of the 20th century”.
The film will be made available again “once this process is complete”same “it takes a long time”and when you reach “a solution accepted by all parties, including Nastassja Kinski”.
