Blue spider, red butterfly: More than 70 new species discovered on a remote plateau

Nature still has many surprises in store for us. These include more than 70 previously unknown species that were recently found in the southwest African country of Angola. A scientific expedition to the remote Lisima Plateau gave the 16 researchers and photographers involved a look at animals that the specialist world was not yet familiar with. These include around 60 species of butterflies, eight dragonflies and three grasshoppers that have never been scientifically described – as well as one or two arachnids. Plants were also mapped.
