Man surpassed security area, entered the water and managed to recover the device; park reinforces ban
A Brazilian tourist jumped into the waters of Iguaçu Falls, in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), to try to rescue a cell phone that had fallen. The case was registered on Saturday morning (June 6, 2026) by other visitors who were at the site.
Videos circulating on social media show the man hanging on the walkway near one of the waterfalls. Then, he goes down to the water, picks up the device and returns to the structure. There is no information that he was injured.
The park administration reinforced that visitors are prohibited from overcoming, climbing or hanging on the walkways’ guardrails. The guideline is that lost objects are reported to the site’s security teams, and not recovered by the tourists themselves.
The Iguaçu Falls are located within the Iguaçu National Park, a federal conservation unit in Foz do Iguaçu, in western Paraná. The area is one of the main tourist attractions in the country and receives a large number of visitors on the walkways near the waterfalls.
