Of the total already approved, R$3.1 billion has already been contracted and R$299.7 million disbursed.

The program finances the acquisition of trucks, tractor trucks, buses, minibuses and road equipment.

“This result demonstrates both the strength of the sector’s demand and the BNDES’ ability to respond with speed and scale. We are talking about a program that will renew the country’s fleet, removing polluting vehicles from the road, increase safety, strengthen national logistics and heat up the automotive chain. It is economic development with a direct impact on people’s lives”, says, president of BNDES.

To date, the line has 4,900 operations, serving independent cargo transporters, individuals associated with cooperatives, individual entrepreneurs and legal entities in the road or urban freight and passenger transport sector in 1,056 municipalities. The average was R$1.3 million per operation.

Interest rates reach 13% per year. The program provides for a financing limit of up to R$50 million per client, with no minimum value, and allows the use of guarantee funds.

The financing line is part of a list of programs and measures that have been taken by the Lula government to boost the economy in this election year. There was also the announcement of a line to finance taxis and cars used by app drivers, among other initiatives.
