Politicians say that the PL will have to let go of the current governor’s hand if it wants to maintain its anti-corruption discourse.

He, however, is not seen as a viable option. The PL does not see him as a possible candidate to garner all the votes from the right. One option that began to be discussed behind the scenes is to appoint the senator as Arruda’s deputy.
The former governor of DF is a pre-candidate for government, but may be considered ineligible depending on the judgment in the (Supreme Federal Court) on the Clean Record Law.
For now, the changes made by Congress that, in practice, free convicts to run for office. Arruda is one of them.
But the minister asked for a view. While the trial is suspended, the changes made to the law remain valid and the former governor could run for office.
The PL leadership has said that Arruda will be able to run even if his mandate is revoked after the elections. Party members compare it with the situation, which was revoked by the (Superior Electoral Court) after taking office.
In this case, the vice-president would take over the position and the PL would command the DF government.
