Towards a rapid and intense escalation in the field, if the voices calling for restraint on both sides do not prevail after what they exchanged and , the whole is moving.
Iran will reassess its stance
Although there have been no further attacks in recent hours, Esmail Baghaei, a spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry, said the US was “undermining” the diplomatic process through “contradictory messages, frequent changes in its positions and demands, and repeated violations of the ceasefire”.
Bagaei said that diplomacy is not conducted in a “vacuum” and that, in order for the talks to proceed, “a minimum level of favorable conditions is required for it to be carried out effectively”, so according to him “after yesterday’s events, we must re-evaluate any diplomatic process like this”.
“The Zionist regime is also damaging this process through its repeated violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon,” he said, adding that “every diplomatic process is damaged by the use of force and illegal actions.” As he said, “Diplomacy and the battlefield are not separate issues. Together they are means to safeguard Iran’s national interests and security.”
Iran’s attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan prove that its armed forces “do not hesitate” when it comes to defending the country, he said, adding: “Where necessary, our armed forces will respond to the enemy with force and determination.”
Eruption on Keshm Island?
At the same time, the Mehr news agency reported that a new explosion occurred in the area of Qeshm Island in southern Iran.
“The exact nature of these sounds remains unknown,” the relevant publication said. “The province of Hormozgan and the shores of the Persian Gulf have been under attack by the American enemy since the early hours of this morning, which was met with an immediate response by the armed forces of our country,” Mehr news agency added.
In response to Mehr’s report, the governor of the province where the island is located made statements, denying that there were any new explosions or sounds of explosions.
Appeals for restraint
Russia and China, both allies of Iran, have called for restraint after renewed violence in the Middle East.
“All parties involved should keep calm and exercise restraint, stop the escalation of the conflict and the escalation of the situation, and take concrete measures to reduce and de-escalate tensions,” said Lin Jian, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry.
Maria Zakharova, the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also intervened later, stating:
“We are deeply concerned about the new round of armed confrontation between the US and Iran, which began with the unprovoked US-Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran. We call on both sides to show restraint and immediately stop military attacks.”
