World Cup: 5 games to watch in the first days of the competition – 06/10/2026 – Sports

With the change from 32 to 48 teams, the World Cup saw a considerable increase in the number of games: from 64 to 104 matches. But let’s be honest, not all of them are unmissable. To help you, we bring you a list of duels that are worth your time in front of the TV or cell phone to watch live.

And the first days of the World Cup already hold some interesting clashes, for different reasons. Check out the 5 unmissable games until Sunday (14), in chronological order.

1 – Mexico x South Africa – Thursday (11), at 4pm

It is the first of 104, which already makes it special. But the duel has other attractions: it is the third opening at the Estadio Azteca and a repeat of the inaugural game from 2010; and there’s a bonus Shakira, with “Dai Dai” replacing “Waka Waka”

2 – USA x Paraguay – Friday (12), at 10pm

You can convince your better half that this is a unique program to spend Valentine’s Day, with the American anthem as the soundtrack. There is also the most Palmeiras team in the World Cup, Paraguay

3 – Brazil x Morocco – Saturday (13), at 7pm

Without Neymar (surprise!?!), Brazil makes its long-awaited debut against the strong Moroccan team, led by full-back Hakimi (PSG). The clash is the only one between two top 10 ranking teams in the first phase

4 – Germany x Curaçao – Sunday (14), at 2pm

No one knows who will win the World Cup. But the World Cup’s top scorer could very well begin his scoring journey in this match. Curaçao is one of the candidates for the competition’s punching bag

5 – Netherlands x Japan – Sunday (14), at 5pm

Group F duel, in which the second placed team faces the leader of Group C, from Brazil, in the next phase. Therefore, if Ancelotti’s team does well in their group, they could face the loser of this match… or Sweden… or Tunisia…
