Eisenstadt – The environmental organization Greenpeace estimates that the material damage caused by asbestos discoveries in Burgenland will amount to at least 1.6 billion euros. The disposal of asbestos-containing material alone will account for around three quarters of this, with the rest going to renovations, it said in a release. Greenpeace sees a demand on the federal government to make funds available from the disaster fund and to ensure that the material is disposed of cost-effectively.
