A helicopter crashed near Lake Maggiore in northern Italy on Friday. According to the local fire department, one person died and three others were injured in the accident. TASR informs about it according to the reports of ANSA and DPA agencies.
Based on initial findings, a private helicopter took off from the compound of the villa on the western shore of this lake. Shortly after takeoff, turbulence apparently occurred and the helicopter crashed. The pilot, who was a businessman from Switzerland, died in the accident. informs the DPA. Three people from Germany were injured, two of them were airlifted to the hospital.
According to Il Sole 24 Ore, the pilot was around 70 years old and lived in the villa from which the helicopter took off. The injured persons were friends of the businessman. Lake Maggiore is located on the border with Switzerland and is the second largest in Italy. According to DPA, the lake area is a popular recreational destination.
