The Israeli army ordered an immediate evacuation in southern Lebanon, including the city of Nabatiya. Shortly after the warning, she launched a series of attacks.
Lebanon’s state news agency NNA reported Saturday’s Israeli attacks in the south of the country shortly after the Israeli army issued evacuation calls for 20 locations, including the city of Nabatiya. TASR writes about it based on a report by the AFP agency.
The NNA reported that there were Israeli attacks in several areas for which the warning was in effect. Smoke can be seen rising from Nabatieh, Sky News reports.
Call for evacuation
“For your safety, you should immediately evacuate your homes and move north of the Zahrani River,” Israeli army spokesman Avichaj Adrai told the Arabic-speaking audience on Platform X. “People near the facilities or military equipment of (militant movement) Hezbollah are putting their lives at risk,” he added, accusing the movement of violating the ceasefire.
Lebanon was drawn into the Middle East war on March 2 when pro-Iranian Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel in retaliation for the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Escalation of the conflict
Since then, Israel has carried out a large-scale series of attacks and a ground invasion in Lebanon, killing more than 3,700 people. Neither Israel nor Hezbollah have fully respected the cease-fire announced in April, and fighting continues despite a new conditional cease-fire agreement announced last week after Lebanese-Israeli talks in Washington, reports AFP.
