Government allocates R$337.5 million for firefighting and inspection

Measure published in the “Official Gazette of the Union” opens extraordinary credit in favor of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change

The president’s government (PT) opened extraordinary credit of R$337.5 million in favor of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for actions to combat forest fires and environmental inspection. According to the document, the resources will be executed by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation.

The focus of the actions will be on strengthening field operations, the response capacity of environmental agencies and prevention, control and inspection actions.

Of the total, R$194.4 million will be allocated to Ibama for actions to prevent and control forest fires in priority federal areas and environmental inspection.

The resources will be used for expenses related to ongoing operations. These include daily allowances and tickets for team mobilization, remuneration for temporary brigade members, acquisition of Personal Protective Equipment, rental of aerial equipment to support inspection, management and firefighting actions, in addition to logistical support.

ICMBio will receive R$143.1 million for environmental inspection and forest fire prevention and combat actions. The amount will be allocated to training and structuring teams, including hiring professionals, purchasing equipment, monitoring systems and logistical support.

Mapa (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock) blocked R$461.7 million from the PSR budget (Rural Insurance Premium Subsidy Program) in 2026. The amount represents 45.6% of the allocation available for the program, which subsidizes part of the costs of agricultural insurance contracted by producers.
