A Skeleton Bridge received, this Wednesday (17), emergency services from the city hall of Limeira, a municipality in the interior of São Paulo, where the bridge of responsibility of the Federal Government is located. The crossing closure service began around 6:30 am, using a backhoe.
A Skeleton Bridge was the scene of a tragedy on Saturday (13), when . She practiced the extreme sport known as rope jumping, an extreme sport in which a person jumps from a high place, attached to a rope.
The rope, which was supposed to be attached to Maria Eduarda’s body, was forgotten on the floor. In videos circulating on social media, it is possible to see the moment in which the victim is carried face down by instructors and thrown off the bridge40 meters, without safety equipment.
Measures adopted
A few days after the incident, the city council began work to close the main entrance to the bridgein the municipality of Limeira, in addition to irregular access. According to the municipal administration, measures to increase the protection of the space are taking place at the request of the Federal Governmentwho acknowledged his responsibility for the bridge.
The municipality claims that the work is temporarybut definitive measures will be adopted soon. The bridge intervention had not yet been carried out, according to the city hall, due to “operational limitations on the part of the federal government”, which, after the tragedy, requested municipal support to close the bridge.
Future services include the construction of retaining walls, maintenance of ditches and complete closure of the area. To the definitive works remain under the responsibility of the Federal Governmentwhich has not yet announced the exact measures that will be adopted at the Skeleton Bridge.
The investigation

In an interview with Estadão, the president of the Brazilian Rope Jump and Human Pendulum Association, Marco Antônio de Campos, stated that the case “it was a grotesque mistake” and that the instructors “forgot half the operation”.
