The US, Iran and countries mediating the talks are discussing signing the memorandum of understanding remotely as early as Wednesday, instead of Friday as planned, according to a diplomatic source from one of the mediating countries and a second source with knowledge of the discussions.
If this scenario becomes a reality, the Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed electronically, the parts of the agreement concerning the Strait of Hormuz will enter into force, and the US may finally publish the full text of the agreement.
The same source said talks on speeding up the timetable were aimed at opening the Straits of Hormuz earlier than Friday, as both sides agreed.
Another factor could be political pressure on the White House to release the text of the Memorandum of Understanding.
However, the diplomatic source rejected this scenario, saying that it was Iran that set the condition that the text not be published until the signatures “fall”.
According to the same source, the text of the agreement is likely to be published on Wednesday. As of this morning, it had not been officially decided whether to change the date of the signings, and the White House declined to comment to Axios.
