Coalition parliamentary clubs Smer-SD, Hlas-SD and SNS, as well as unaffiliated deputies from the Rural Party expressed confidence in the government because it has no alternative. In the final joint statement just before the vote in the National Council (NR) of the SR, this was stated by the chairman of the Smer-SD club Ján Richter.
“We express unequivocal support for the government of the Slovak Republic. Today’s debate also convinced us that the current government has no alternative, and therefore we will vote for a vote of confidence in the government of the Slovak Republic.” Richter declared. “The National Council of the Slovak Republic has expressed its confidence in Robert Fico’s government. It is a clear message to the anti-Slovak opposition that the government coalition is united and stable.” Minister of Finance Ladislav Kamenický (Smer-SD) responded to the voting results on the social network.
On Thursday evening, the deputies of the National People’s Republic of Slovakia expressed their confidence in the government by 78 votes. 54 legislators were against. Since it was the only item on the agenda, they ended the extraordinary 60th meeting by voting. The cabinet asked the parliament for confidence in view of the high public debt, which is in the highest sanction zone of the constitutional law on budget responsibility.
