The shot of the flying hatch immediately went viral.
After yesterday’s Ukrainian one, the shot of the explosion of one of the reservoirs of the oil refinery almost immediately became iconic. The hatch flew several tens of meters into the air, resembling a flying saucer.
Today, the Nexta channel published footage taken from a different angle, which suggests that the tank was not hit by a drone, but by a Russian anti-aircraft missile.
In the footage, the cameraman first follows a low-flying Ukrainian drone, after a few seconds two traces of flying anti-aircraft missiles can be seen on the footage. One of them rises to about the height of the drone, but then it aims directly at the ground and hits the tank. It then explodes massively, throwing its hatch into the air as well.
Yesterday’s attack on Moscow is considered the biggest attack since the start of the Ukrainian-Russian war. Moscow’s air defense had to repel dozens of attack drones, but some of them hit their targets. The main one is the refinery in the capital of the Russian Federation.
The Ukrainians attacked it a few days ago and even earlier they managed to hit the oil infrastructure in St. Petersburg. The Ukrainians have been attacking Russia’s fuel infrastructure for a long time with the aim of making logistics in Russia significantly more difficult.
