Katy Perry returned to Portugal and, in addition to her performance at Rock in Rio Lisboa, she ended up starring in a moment that quickly gained prominence among fans and onlookers. After taking the stage in the capital, the American singer made a point of trying one of the most recognized symbols of Portuguese confectionery: the pastel de nata.
According to the social network, where a video was shared by the artist herself and republished by fan pages, Katy Perry visited the Castro custard tart atelier, in downtown Lisbon, and was curious before taking the first bite. The moment happened a few hours after the show at Parque Papa Francisco.
Portuguese sweet in the artist’s script
In the video, the singer appears relaxed and ready to taste the sweet treat. “OK. Here I come!” he says before trying it on. The reaction was immediate and without much hesitation. “The crunchy part is good! Oh my god. Wow!” he said, in a response that quickly began circulating among fans.
The visit to the space ended up reinforcing an increasingly common habit among international artists who visit Portugal: trying traditional products during their stay. In this case, the pastel de nata once again took on the role of a gastronomic calling card.
Connection that had already been assumed on stage
Still, Katy Perry’s visit to Lisbon was not just marked by music or gastronomic moments. During the show, the artist repeated several times a phrase that had already aroused curiosity among the audience: “I am 20% Portuguese.”
The reference is linked to the singer’s family origins. Katy Perry is the great-great-granddaughter of an Azorean born in Ponta Delgada, a connection that she herself has evoked on other occasions and which she brought back to the center of the presentation in Lisbon.
