FIFA President announced the Republican’s participation in the final; Casa Branca reposted the content
Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, stated that Donald Trump will be at the World Cup final to present the trophy to the champion. The statement was made this Tuesday (June 23, 2026), in an interview with the program “Fox and Friends”, on Fox News.
The final is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on the outskirts of New York. Trump, however, has not yet attended any match in the tournament, which is still underway in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“We will be with the president enjoying the final and presenting the trophy to the winner, of course, together”Infantino said on the program. A profile linked to the White House reposted the content on X. FIFA said it had no comments beyond the director’s televised statements.
In the United States’ debut in the tournament, against Paraguay, in Los Angeles, the president was represented by the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
Presenting the trophy will not be anything new for the Republican. At the same MetLife stadium, Trump received boos and applause when he presented the trophy to Chelsea, last year’s Club World Cup champion.
Since then, Trump has attended other sporting events in the New York metropolitan area. He was at the US Open tennis men’s final, golf’s Ryder Cup and the NBA finals.
