Collapse leaves one person dead and two injured in the east of SP

A man died and two other people were rescued after a property collapsed in the Cangaíba neighborhood, east side of São Paulo, on Tuesday night (23). According to the Fire Department, the collapse occurred at around 11:25 pm, on Rua Engenheiro Costa Ourique.

Part of the structure of a two-story house collapsed, leaving three people trapped. One of the victims suffered minor injuries. Another was rescued with a leg injury and taken to the Planalto Emergency Room.

The third victim was removed from the rubble in cardiorespiratory arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Civil Defense, the causes of the collapse are still to be investigated. After a preliminary technical inspection, the property was closed.

The place operated as a collective housing with rooms for rent. The Social Emergency Care Coordination (CPAS) was called to assist 37 people, including adults and children, who will be sent to available places in municipal shelters. A new technical inspection will be carried out this Wednesday (24) by the Subprefecture of Penha.
