Corridor increased by 8% in the first 5 months of 2026; 42 million people fly across the country
The air route between São Paulo and Bahia came to occupy 3rd position among the busiest domestic routes in Brazil from January to May 2026. The corridor transported 2.49 million passengers in the period, an increase of 8% compared to the 2.29 million registered in the same period in 2025. The data was released this Wednesday (June 24, 2026) by based on information from Anac (National Aviation Agency civil).
CHANGE IN RANKING
The São Paulo-Santa Catarina route fell from 3rd to 4th place. The number of passengers fell 1.5%, from 2.4 million to 2.37 million.
The São Paulo-Rio Grande do Sul section advanced from 6th to 5th position. The corridor registered 2.11 million passengers between January and May 2026, growth of 5% compared to the 2 million recorded in the same period in 2025.
The São Paulo-Minas Gerais route fell from 5th to 6th place. Passenger volume fell from 2.14 million to 2.05 million in the annual comparison.
The São Paulo-Rio de Janeiro route maintained its leadership for the 2nd consecutive year, with around 2.9 million passengers between January and May 2026.
The São Paulo-Paraná section remained in 2nd position, with approximately 2.8 million passengers in the year.

AVIATION GROWED 6% IN THE COUNTRY
Brazilian domestic aviation handled 42 million passengers between January and May 2026, according to Anac. The volume is 6% higher than the 39.8 million recorded in the same period in 2025 and represents the highest ever recorded for the range.
In May, 8.31 million passengers traveled on domestic flights in the country, an increase of 2% compared to the 8.16 million recorded in the same month of the previous year. According to the Ministry of Tourism, it was the highest volume ever recorded for the month since the beginning of the historical series, in 2000.
