During the night, Venezuela was hit by two violent earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, separated by just 39 seconds. The images circulating on social media show the moment when the earthquakes cause the collapse of buildings, damage to infrastructure and scenes of panic among the population.
According to information released by Venezuelan authorities, the two earthquakes caused dozens of deaths and thousands of injuries, while emergency teams are still on the ground looking for survivors and assessing the extent of the damage.
