- At the end of the 26th week, 115 artificial swimming pools and 391 swimming pools were operating.
- At the Lipovina, Bátovce, Duchonka and Kanianka reservoirs, they found reduced water transparency.
- The increased health risk from cyanobacteria applies to Lake Kava and Lake Košice.
- The water at Ružín SKI Štrkoviska Čaňa and Gazárka is unsuitable for swimming.
- The Matadorka swimming pool is temporarily closed due to a malfunction of the chlorine dispenser.
Reduced water transparency was found at the Lipovina – Bátovce, Duchonka and Kanianka water reservoirs. The transparency of water is not among the health-significant indicators of the quality of water for bathing, i.e worse results of this indicator do not represent a threat to the health of bathers.
Due to the deteriorated quality of the water for bathing, it applies possible increased health risk for sensitive population groups such as children, pregnant women, allergy sufferers and people with weakened immune systems for Štrkoviskové lake Kava Komárno and Plážové kúpalisko Jazero in Košice. The reason is the increased values of the cyanobacteria indicator. Likewise for Ružín (Počkaj Beach), where the quality of the water for bathing was deteriorated due to the exceeding of the limit value of chlorophyll-a with the predominance of algae.
On the basis of other laboratory results, the limit values of health-significant indicators were exceeded recorded at Ružín (SKI), Štrkovisko Čaňa, recreation area Gazárka Šaštín Stráže. “The water in the mentioned locations is not suitable for swimming – swimming represents an acute danger and an increased health risk for all bathers,” warned ÚVZ.
The MATADORKA swimming pool in Bratislava’s Petržalka also informed that it will be closed until at least Monday (June 29). “Our swimming pool remains closed due to the elimination of the consequences of a defect in the chlorine dispenser,” clarified the cause. After complete cleaning, they send re-sampling for hygiene.
They assure visitors that they have nothing to worry about. “We would like to assure you that the water in the smaller pools was not dangerous for visitors (the water intakes in the swimming pool were fine) but due to the chlorine dispenser being out of order for several hours, we during the standard control sampling of water, some parameters of microorganisms jumped above the limit, which also got into the system. For this reason, we decided on a complete cleaning,” they added.
