The president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, has raised the death toll to 920 and the number of injured to 3,360 from the double earthquake that hit the north of the country on Wednesday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, already counts five Spaniards dead and 119 not located. In addition, it has reported that 14 people have been found alive trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings. Emergency teams are focusing their efforts this Friday on rescuing those who remain trapped in the rubble of destroyed buildings. Relatives and neighbors are also collaborating in the work and desperately searching for their acquaintances among the ruins. An unknown number of people have been rescued alive; others have been located, but they cannot leave because they are trapped and there is still a lack of machinery to facilitate the work. More than 48 hours after earthquakes, the possibilities for rescuing people alive decrease. So far, 17 countries and the UN have sent planes with humanitarian aid that will arrive in the coming days.
